🧭 AI-Ready PM – Day 2: AI vs ML vs LLM vs RAG – No Jargon, Just Clarity
Project Managers don’t need to memorize buzzwords—they need to understand the business value behind them. Let’s clear the fog on the four most misunderstood AI terms in under 3 minutes.

🤖 1. AI (Artificial Intelligence)
Think of AI as the umbrella. It covers any system that can simulate human intelligence—like learning, reasoning, or decision-making.
🧠 Example: A chatbot that answers questions or an app that recommends content.
🔄 2. ML (Machine Learning)
This is how most modern AI systems learn.
Rather than being hardcoded with rules, they learn patterns from data.
📈 Example: A model that predicts whether a customer will churn based on past behavior.
🧾 3. LLM (Large Language Model)
LLMs like ChatGPT are a type of AI trained on huge amounts of text to understand and generate language.
💬 They power tools like Copilot, email drafting, and chatbots that feel more human.
🔍 4. RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
RAG combines an LLM with a real-time information source, like your internal company documents or databases.
Instead of relying only on what it was trained on, the model “looks up” relevant info before answering.
📦 Think of it like ChatGPT with access to your business wiki or support FAQs.
💡 Why This Matters for PMs:
You don’t need to build these systems.
But if you can understand which tool fits your business case, you can:
✅ Ask smarter questions
✅ Communicate with your tech team
✅ Propose AI ideas that actually solve problems
